Bareboat charter. Bareboat is a term used to describe chartering a yacht that is being navigated, anchored and skippered by its charterer. As can be imagined, handling and chartering bareboat, requires skills, knowhow and in most cases valid skipper license.
Yacht charter (usually on a weekly basis), is considered to be one of the best vacations. So, handling, mooring and skippering a yacht where only you and your friends and family are onboard, can be the ulmitamte vacation. Just imagine, mooring whenever and wherever you want, cooking meals together in the yacht galley (this is how the yacht kitchen is called), or enjoying a family dinner when only the sounds of the sea can be sound.
However, with this great fun comes great responsibility. It is crucial that before chartering a yacht you will make sure that not only you have valid skipper license, but also that you have enough experience to handle the yacht. If needed, take a ‘refresh’ lesson before chartering a yacht for a week, make sure the yacht is being chartered from a well known company (that maintain their yachts in top condition) and that you have in your team enough people that can help you moor the yacht, and handle it day and night.
Before the bareboat charter, we recommend to get a proper naval map that has the cruising area. Speak with the charter company and prepare a planed logbook. Prepare a proper list of equipment that you should take onboard, and most important, make sure that your sailing team are ones that will make the sailing safe and fun.
